TARGETS
In the future you will need to develop your work so it looks less like the photographer you have been considering.
When you write about your own work (www and ebi) you need to look more closely and determine exactly what you do well and what needs improvement. At the moment you always write the same thing. Do you meet the success criteria? What subject-specific language could you use to make your annotations sound more sophisticated

My first interpretation of the theme of fragments was to see how I could take interesting photos of fragments of plates and plaster

WWW
I like that the plate has fragmented glaze as well as fragments of pottery
the warm colours of the plaster and wood images were harmonious and the white showed a contrast
EBI
I zoomed in closer to the fragments
I tried to arrange the fragments into a pattern so I could see how they looked as a contrast to the natural way they were in my original images

Patrick Cornillet
Patrick Cornillet was a French artist born in 1968 and his work features fragments of urban landscapes and severe architecture. He takes elements of buildings and strips them back by placing them on a plain background. The buildings are austere and dehumanised and look uninhabited giving the impression of a dream-like space like a video game backdrop and a feeling of alienation with the world we live in.
In this task I had to respond to the work of Cornillet. The best way to do this is to take a photograph from a corner to create perspective and to edit the photo so that one of the buildings was the main subject.

The subjects I chose to photograph suited the theme as they are bold and are the main subject of the photos.
the dining is clear and there are no small mistakes when using the polygon lasso tool

I took more photos that are not of the same thing
next time I should go to a different location.

Discuss Brodbeck's intentions.
In this task I had to respond to the work of Brodbeck. the best way to do this is to take a photo of a building from a distance so that it is the main subject of the photo.

Anastasia Savinova
What are Savinova's intentions?
In this task I had to respond to the work of Anastasia Savinova. The best way to do this is to take normal photos of houses and edit them together in a strategic way so it makes a jumbled up house.

Gordon Magnin
Gordan Magnin creates alterations to people's faces and repositions fragments of them into a geometric pattern. His aim is to challenge the fashion industries idea of beauty in this industry where models are airbrushed to create an image that does not really exist. He uses black and white photos so that the shadows exaggerate facial features and the photos have more depth.
In this task I was required to take close ranged portraits which show the persons facial features and face shape clearly and close up.
This task links to the theme fragments as it shows details of the face in places they should not be. It breaks down the face into geometric fragments that look unnatural. He says, "I tend to make the beautiful ugly."
My intention was to respond to Gordan Magnin because I wanted to explore how geometric patterns can completely change a person's face and which shapes work best for certain photos.

The subject I picked for this task was good because it shows a detailed, black and white portrait.
My images express my intentions which were to make an innocent portrait look distorted.
I managed the exposure very well and made the lighting clear.
EBI:
I had taken more photos but from further away because most of my photos were very close up
Next time I should use a tripod because some of the photos weren't focussed enough.

My reason for distorting these images was to create the fragmental affect and follow in Gordan Magnin's foot steps.

I have linked my work with Gordon Magnin to the artist, Almar Haser whose concept is cosmic surgery. Her photography is about looking into the future and imagining a medical procedure to enhance people aesthetically, change their moods, and to stop the control of continued observation by means of CCTV and tracking. Haser combines photography, collage and origami. She is trying to make us understand ourselves and the world around us differently and exploring the possibility of a trans-humanist future. A trans-human is something that seems like a human but has powers greater than standard humans
In this task I was required to take short length portraits that feature the person posing differently and in different positions.
This task links to the theme, fragments as it shows photography through origami, it shows details of the face in places they should not be.
My intention was to respond to Almar Haser because I wanted to explore origami, and how it can twist photos to look surreal. I also liked the idea of working in 3d rather than 2d.

The subject I chose to photograph suited the theme as it because the distance between the face and the lens was perfect.
The subject I chose to photograph suited the theme as it had a good amount of shadows that can add to the fragmental effect
I used a tripod to avoid camera shake.
EBI:
Next time i will make more interesting shapes with more interesting nets.
Take more photos with different angles so that there is variation.

Fragments
This project began with going to an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery. The black and white shots taken in the Victorian era by Chris Killip inspired me to take portrait photos for my project. I then looked at Gordon Magnin and Almar Haser to see how their photography took fragments of faces to create surreal images.
In my first development I focused on breaking down the face into geometric fragments that look unnatural. I wanted to explore how geometric patterns can completely change a person's face and which shapes work best for certain photos.
In my second development, I showed photography through origami. My images shows details of the face in places they should not be. I was interested to explore origami, and how it can twist photos to make them look surreal.
My final development shows how I experimented with paper and different textures that I could create with it. I liked the paper part of the origami development and I wanted to experiment further with paper. The crumpled paper made the faces look fragmented and I combined black and white images with colour images to create a contrast and make the images more striking.
